Ashtaka 8 Varga

Ashtakavarga means group of eight divisions, where Rahu and Ketu do not enter this division, each Graha plus the Lagna (ascendant) has a number of beneficial points called “bindus” that are distributed from its position. In this way, each sign collects a number of points that determines its strength.
The average number of points is twenty-eight for each Bhava (house). Each Graha contributes a maximum of eight points to each house, and the overall sum of the amount of points for each house is called Sarvashtakvarga.
To analyze the influence of a particular transit in an individual chart it is necessary to take the amount of points of a house into consideration, if a planet transits a house with a good score, but this planet contributes with only one point, then one must pay attention to that specific point. If a planet transits a house with a low score then during the whole period you will not feel well. In transit, planets give good results when they have six, seven or eight points.
First, a series of aspects of a chart and of the divisional charts are analyzed before applying the score analysis, a term called “Mandook” which means “leap of the frog” is used to explain when there is a big difference in scores between houses, in which case one can jump from a good position to worse, or from worse to better, observing the relationship house by house.
“Sade Sati” is the seven and a half year transit period of Saturn over the natal Moon. Saturn spends two and a half years in the sign preceding the Moon, two and a half years in the Moon sign, and two and a half years in the sign following the Moon sign. The Ashtakavarga will show how this period of “Sade Sati” will occur regardless of Saturn’s condition.
