Maharishi Parashara, in his theory Pancha Maha Bhuta, wrote about the relations that exist among the four elements (Pancha Tattwas), the planets, and the five human senses.
Mercury has to do with the sense of smell, which in turn has to do with the earth, wealth, and the goddess Kubera.
Mars has to do with the sense of sight, which in turn has to do with fire and goddess Agnideva.
Jupiter/Rahu has to do with the sense of hearing which in turn has to do with the ether or space element and the god Indra.
Venus has to do with speech and the water element which in turn has to do with the god Varuna.
Saturn has to do with the sense of touch which in turn has to do with the air element and the god Vayu.
